The deal, in plain words

All words, audio, stories, and practice tools on the site are free for your personal learning, in class or on your own. Teachers are welcome to use pages with their students.

What is not okay: copying large parts of the site or its audio to republish, resell, or build a competing product. If you want to use our material in a bigger way, write to us and ask.

Pro is a one-time purchase of $49, handled by our payment partner, Creem, who acts as the seller of record. They process your payment and send your receipt; we never see your card details. What they collect, and the little we receive, is spelled out on the privacy page.

The slang deck on its own is a separate one-time purchase of $9 under exactly the same terms: same seller of record, same 14 day refund window, same 3 device limit. Its key opens the slang deck only.

• One purchase, yours forever. We will never turn it into a subscription.
• Your key works on up to 3 devices you personally use. Please do not share it publicly; if a key is shared widely we may switch it off and issue you a fresh one.
• Changed your mind? You have 14 days. See the refund policy.
• If prices change later, your past purchase is untouched.

This purchase includes the current version plus corrections and format fixes for it. Slow playback is a built in player feature on the site; the offline files are normal speed.

HearMandarin is made by one independent maker, and it is run as a small company, not a platform with departments. The company behind the bird is Shanghai Zehengce Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. (seller name Aipule, 爱普乐), registered in Shanghai, China.

• Contact: support@hearmandarin.com. A real person reads every message, and this is the address for any legal notice. Our postal address is available on request.
• Purchases are handled by Creem as the merchant of record. The seller details for your order, including the billing address on file, appear on your Creem receipt.
• These terms sit under the law of the People's Republic of China. If we ever disagree in a way we cannot sort out by email, the courts of Shanghai, China have jurisdiction.

We work hard to keep everything correct and clearly dated, and when the official word lists change, we update. Still, the site may contain mistakes, and we are not responsible for exam results or decisions made based on it. HearMandarin is an independent study aid. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the organizers of the HSK exam or any government body.

The site is provided as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, which for most visitors is zero. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

If we update these terms, we change the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes to paid features will also be announced on the site itself, so nobody finds out from a lawyer letter.
